These fighters are a form of magic user called half-spark. They are people who are talented in one specific area or of magic: and their talent is in lightning. They benefit from a magical phenomenon that causes their body to be able to store a massive electric charge, and release it as easily as they would a breath of air. This makes them very dangerous fighters, and even lovers; because if they are not disciplined enough all it takes in small flare of emotion, and the person standing closest to them may be struck by lightning.
At 3rd, when you choose this archetype, your talent with lightning manifests and gives you the means to accelerate and enhance your body beyond what is normally possible. You gain a number of storm surges equal to your constitution modifier. At the start of your turn, you can expend a storm surge to gain one of the following benefits until the start of your next turn.
- Increase your speed by 15ft.
- The next time you hit a creature with a weapon attack, they suffer additional lightning damage equal to 1d6 + half your fighter level.
- Gain advantage on dexterity checks and saving throws.
- Each creature that hits you with a melee attack suffers 1d8 lightning damage.
You regain all expended storm surges when you finish a short or long rest.
Starting at 7th level, you look forward to getting hit by lighting. You gain resistance to lighting damage, and lightning damage you deal ignores resistance to lightning damage. Additionally, if you take 15 or more lightning damage you regain 2 storm surges.
Additionally, if a creature within 20ft of you takes lighting damage, you may use your reaction to halve the lightning damage they take rounded up. You then suffer the same amount of lightning damage.
Bt 10th level, you have learned how to release your energy in a very precise manner, arcing it from one point to another. Once on your turn, when you hit a creature with a weapon attack, and you have expended a storm surge this turn, you may deal lightning damage to another creature within 20 feet of the target equal to half the damage you dealt. At 15th level you may target two creatures with this feature instead of one.
Ride the Lightning
Starting at 15th level, you can use the power in your body in order to lift you off the ground. As an action, you may spend 2 storms surges to gain a magical flying speed equal to your movement speed for one hour.
Lord of the Storms
At 18th level, when you use your action surge you can cast the chain lightning spell using your constitution as your spellcasting ability. Once you do so, you can't do so again until you finish a long rest.
